Around 1920, Porter and Minnie tore down the
original house and built a home on the Clark farm
that is still used by Jack and Jean. The original
barn and old smokehouse are still serviceable.
Another building on the farm that is still in use is
a tabernacle that was once owned by the Methodist
Church in Fairy. Sleepy purchased the structure in
the 1950's and moved it to the Clark Farm to be used
as protection against the weather for both cattle
and farm equipment.
In the summer of 2004 Jack and Jean Mayer
began "resurrecting" the Clark home place. With the
assistance of Jeff and Edda Mayer and their son
Jakob, the Double J Ranch began raising registered
longhorns in 2005. As Jack and Jean began reviving
the old home place, they realized that the task of
bringing life back to the Clark place will
definitely remain a project in progress for the
love of this family land. Having grown up on the
Clark farm, Jean often feels the presence of Sleepy
and Melba as she and Jack continue the family dreams
that began in 1908
